OK, I want to give this a good old think.

I'd like to invite people who have issue with the original game design behaviour to talk about what it is that bothers them about it. I'd like to do this as a bit of a brainstorm, so the rules are:

1) Describe how you feel about the behaviour of the original game that makes you wish for a change

2) Stay away from suggesting solutions at this point

3) Please do not argue with people's posts at this point: people are simply stating how they feel.

If we can do this, I can better understand the situation and look for solutions. It may be that a solution exists that everyone would be happy with. We can at least try.

This. Why slide tackle when there is no opposition about? The "one fire button for everything" design (as awesome as it is) failed here.

keeper being superman vs good, aftertouch shots that would look great if they went in but never do, but a complete idiot when running around after the ball or if it's lobbed
