excuse my poor english but i will try to translate the negative review of the biggest german pc-magazine -GameStar-

"it is twelve years ago that a programer with the funny name dino dini tried a revolution at the PC-soccer.in his KICK OFF the ball sticked not at the players feet ,but had to be brought troublesomely to the goal.nowadays PC-players know that this
plan failed.anyhow ACCLAIM risked with a poorly polished new KICK OFF 2002 a comeback for the football pensioners.in a tiny bird's eye view you hunt for the ball, slide threw the half of the court and dispair with the unprecise control.what made great combinations possible with digital joysticks in earlier days ,is today unplayable with keyboard or gamepad.allthough the nostalgic charme of KO2 :there is no need for crumb-grafic and one-button-control at a modern PC."

41% --- moderate , only for genre fans

and the personal opinion of the tester:

"KO was a great game - but times are changing.what was called a football simulation in former days ,is called ungly reaction test today.hardcore fans of the original game can make a trip to the past because of the cheap price.for those who want a football game ,they are at the wrong place"

the second review is of -PC-Games- the second largest mag in germany:

KO 2002 proofs : not everything which is called football is football

"don't let you dazzle from the legendary name of KO: what was famous football-fun at the amiga, atari and C64 years ago ,is anno 2002 a poor try on the PC to repeat the success of former days.from bird's eye view you try with a national team(no original data) to win in championships or cups.controling is restricted on the up/side/down arrows and one button for passing, shooting, foul and kick off.intelligent gameplay is not possible, unprecise collision and the stupid behavior of the computer players complet this picture.additionally the roughly grafic with laughable animations was not acceptable years ago.but the worsest is that the gameplay of KO has nothing to do with football at all and makes definitely no fun.even not the cheap price of EUR15 can be an argument to by this game ,as the budget version of FIFA 2001 is about the same price."

21% -- you will rue this washout: you waste your money with that

thank god austria is too small for having their own big magazines.<IMG SRC="/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif">
in my opinion these reviews show only that the testers are incompetent to play a game with a little pretension in controling.they disqualify themselves if they critisize a missing gameplay because : your skills definate the gameplay

Let's see how the market will respond to that. The magazines are not objective; they promote what they want.

I had to answer the PC Games review and posted the following at their website: (of course in german, so please excuse my BSE ...bad simple English...)

"It is true that KickOff was a top title on amiga during the 80s.
The author of this review is unaware of the following:
This game was written by Steve Screech (one of the creators of KickOff) during his spare time, to give a PC version to those who loved KickOff on the amiga platform. He was in steady contact with old 'KickOff-Veterans' who are still keen on KO and who prefer pure action (arcade) instead of graphics without fun.
Steve Screech was also trying to implement the ideas and wishes of the KO players, something that is almost impossible to find at big software companies.
I am aware that the learning curve with the single button feature is very steep and that a lot of time and patience is necessary. But those who are willing to accept this, are highly rewarded by this very good KO successor!
Therefore I don't think this review to be accurate and I would highly appreciate an updated more detailed review after the soon released patch."

I also added the KO Gathering link to my posting and I hope a lot of guys will come to our site to see what it really means to be allowed to play KO2002!
