I did think TROY was a brilliant film myself.

Yeah I thought troy was good to be honest and seems to be the norm to be criticized un fairly. Some good action scenes and a few of the mature actors saved the film on an acting level. It was not prefect by any means but a good film.

Man of fire james? top 20 of all time? really? it was ok, but a bit over rated for me.

I can not help but notice the lack of gangster films so far. Donnie Brasco, Heat, Goodfellas, Godfarther Everyone of these kicks th shit out of Man on fire... Forget about it.

Seriously thats the worst 300 review i have ever seen.
300 was indeed a 10/10 film. Not because it pleased you, but because it did EXACTLY what it was supposed to do, in the way it was expected.

Have you even read the comics?

I haven't. But I can judge the movie by itself, though I accept that I might feel different about the movie if I had read the comics. Anyway, I love to be dazzled by optics, but a film has to tell me a good story, too. It has to draw me in, make me feel with/for the protagonist(s), feed me a clever idea - anything. And 300 fails to do so, I don't care about these guys. Compare it to Zulu...

But as I said, even a 5/10 for me would not be a bad score and I might even award 300 a 6/10 for its stylish visuals. I could also point out that unlike some people here I'm not a sucker for "historical battles" (and thus movies like Braveheart, Kingdom of Heaven, Troy, etc) - if the 300 had been fighting zombies or aliens instead... :)

I have looked at the two top 20 lists. I agree that only 20 movies is just not enough - but maybe even 100 would not be enough...

@Jim: Interesting list. What can be said is that you definitely like to watch battles being fought. :)

@Jesper: Some excellent choices, Kubrik taking the top spots. From that list the only movie I don't know is Ondskan, sounds interesting, I hope I can find a torrent.

Jesper's list is mostly nice for my taste.

He is my Top-20 in any case:

Nice list Jesper. Good to see Seven Saumrai listed - what did you think of 'Ran'? James Beard, you should see 'Ran'.

Nice also to see Office Space listed. Not much comedy making it into people's lists. I think we're all quite a grumpy lot.

Interesting to see the difference between Spyros and James's list. Mr Beard definitely likes NEW films, whereas cyclops only has two films made since the millennium.

Would be nice to generate a KOA members top movie list, based on all results from the top 20 lists being generated.

I think ALIENS would probably be number 1..

One can also notice off course that James long-term memory is nonexistant. :)

Right here we go, 20 Films I think are rather good. It not definitive and isn't in any order but enjoy anyway :)
