Friday 13th Tournament - SIGN UP THREAD

Postby Steve1977 » Sun Apr 08, 2007 4:38 pm

Date of Tournament - Friday 13th!

I was wondering guys if people would be up for an online tournament this coming week? Perhaps on Wednesday(12th), Thursday(13th) or Friday(14th)evening?

Basically, we'l play each other either in a tournament similar to the Champions League (group stages first and the knockout)

Before I press ahead with concrete ideas on the format, Im just interested in people who would like to take part in this little experiment.

After reading through the history of this forum, it seems like this place was buzzing around the 2002 era - or maybe im mistaken. Regardless, there were some great posts and great rivalies (Wonka and Alkis).

To all the players who used to post...howabout you take the baton once more and decide for the first time in ages, just who has got bragging rights in the World of Kick Off.

This would be a friendly tournament and wouldnt have an effect on any rankings. However, if it were a success - perhaps KOA could incorporate it into any rankings and who knows, make it a regular ocurrence?

**UPDATE** - The Mighty Alkis has signed up!! This will be one of the few times you will be able to play the master that is Alkis!

I can give it a try. If the lag of my internet connection spoils the fun for the rest of you, I'll bail out. Thursday and Friday are fine.

Since when?? I think you've been tainted by those 2002 threads. :lol: :lol: :lol:

I will play if my PC joystick adapter turns up. Tried playing before with my PC gamepad and it's just no good for Kick Off.

Has anyone else had any trouble with this new PC version though? Mine quite often goes haywire upon loading. At the point where the screen turns yellow in the loading process, I get a flashing purple screen and it crashes. Any ideas?

Guys, I really appreciate your efforts on this and I thank you all for offering to participate.

I just played online against Alkis - i wont mention the results (i;l wait for Alkis to post) but he had quite a poor Ping of '81'.

Normally you would get 50 Ping or so but we carried on (and i even found a greek server for him - but then my ping was poor)

So we played two games, I hosted them because i had a better ping and guess what?

* No stops in gameplay
* No slow down
* No Disconnections!

Unbelievable how smoothly it went! Normally it may stop once, perhaps twice. But to go as smoothly as it did was unheralded and bodes well for your introduction to the new style of KO2 Online - After all, first impressions count. :)

I take it you're trying to load Kaillera before you find an opponent. Don't do that; wait till someone starts a game in a server, then you will join it and Kaillera will begin automatically and load correctly.

Nope, just loading it, then clicking OK to run the game and play without online play. It boots up but only sometimes. Mostly I get the flashing purple/black bit. When it does load everything works correctly as if it was a stand alone emulator.
