And this is very closely related to my calls for better goal detection (gets on his soapbox) but "it wouldn't be kick off anymore" ? :?

Following on from this recent discussion, I just had to post these two "goals" I scored the other day...

A hole in the net :?:

Or through the side door :?:

How much was Screechy paid to allow these ????? KO2 BUNG ENQUIRY NOW!

PS what if the world cup final was decided by a goal like this...admittedly any player in the world cup final would be scoring far superior goals to these but the point remains! ;)

I beat JamesHBeard 1-0 in the Dartford World Cup with a 'goal' exactly like that last one.

Agree completely, James.

As much as I need a win, even a newbie like me wouldn't want to win with such a shameful and disgraceful non-goal like this. Surely such non-goals are out of the place in the great game 8) ?

Got another puzzling one here....

Two shots from the same identical angle but two different outcomes? In the original gameplay, the post sound can be heard for both shots?

Answers on a postcard please... :?

Nice video!

I believe you must make more sacrifices to the interpolation god.

Or simply use a little more aftertouch ;)

I believe in kick off but I'm not sure I believe in god! In any case how come the interpolation god gets it right first time and not second ? I guess at least the post detection is half decent!

Another thought was that maybe posts have feelings too  Like the morale attribute, when the post is feeling 'up' it bounces the ball away but if its feeling down, the ball just sails throught it !? Sounds plausible to me (within the strange KO universe we all visit)

I only wish the post detection forced me to use aftertouch! :(

I'll dig up my old image which confused everyone again!

Image

This explained the side netting goals, and I believe the post problem you demonstrate is basically the same thing.

In the picture the shot on the left would be a goal, and the shot on the right would go out.

Increasing the step rate from 50Hz to 100Hz would make this more accurate (the distance the ball travelled before being checked again for collisions would be half and therefore less likely to mess up).

Any questions, please ask Claire.

Thanks, Steve. :) Your image is making more sense this time! I take the blue dots represent the point at which the ball's position is checked and increasing the step rate would increase the number of blue dots. And if a blue dot coincides with the post, the program correctly bounces the ball back out! YES! 8)

Steve Camber wrote:Any questions, please ask Claire.

So, Claire, what are the chances of adding a 'step rate switch' on the jff menu at some future point so the theory could at least be tested?

Wow, I think you've got it! Yep, blue dots are the checking points.

Note to Claire : the answer is "Don't hold your breath"
