Especially Antonis Lekopoulos! He fancied himself as a KO god and in a small article he named himself 'The Brazilian of KO2, master of dribbling".

Niko, excellent idea. I think Joel Osmond should play me as a young lad learning KO. For my later days Brad Pitt will do fine!

It all started in 1990 I think when I was bunking off school and wondering around Oxford Street in London with £25.00 to buy a game for my new Amiga. I went into the store without anything in mind. There it was, a lovely attractive poster of KO2 and I asked the store if I could see it before I purchased. As they had it on the display Amiga they let me play it. I drew 1-1 on my first ever game! I did have KO1 skills which made it easier than the average beginner. I will never forget that feeling as G.Nicholls shot rolled over the line after the keeper parried it from an angled shot. I didn't hesitate to purchase after the game.

I simply couldn't stop playing this game and I used to get my girlfriend to suck me off while playing. I think I got more joy from scoring goals in KO2 than I got shooting in my girlfriends mouth! I quickly began to obtain incredible skill and control after so much practice and addiction but after about 18 months my disk died on me and my mate in school copied me the oracle version. I noticed the difference almost immediately and just kept on playing and playing and playing, it was my life and I never went to school!

I easily disposed of all my friends at KO2 and they hated it after playing me and I was the only one who continued. I began to believe I was the best in the world as I took the game to it's highest heights. I sat there in work about 2 years ago and thought "I bet I'm the best KO2 player in the world" I looked on the internet and searched for KO2 and I can't really remember what site I pulled up but it had Robert Swift's details.

I sent him an email about how good I was and left my number. He called me when I was coming out the bank about a week later and we arranged to have a beer as we worked near each other. After meeting Robert we arranged a meeting at his house with James Lockerbie and they used their player manager tactics. Although their tactics were too good and they beat me (I also didn't have a joystick), I knew I was much better than they were and knew they wouldn't have stood a chance if they played me at normal KO2 and I proved this when they arranged a tournament with normal KO2 rules and the introduction of Naz and SimonB.

I won this tournament fairly easily with a borrowed joystick and this is when I knew I was really good and my thought of being the best was becoming obvious to me as I didn't even have my competition pro yet! When i got my comp pro I simply destroyed Naz, SimonB, Swifty, and James and I think they were shocked what I could do. This left me totally convinced I was untouchable and I went on to win everything I entered.

When Bill invited me up I knew I was in for a tough battle as I had a good idea by then how good he was by competing with Alkis without any practice for years. I was correct as Bill proved to be my toughest opponent but I began to overcome him and it was getting rediculous at one stage so I stopped and boosted him up with a joke or two. This wasn't a good idea as he just came back with unstoppable performances and he won 5 in a row I think! I still done a professional job and went home a winner which was important for me. I think I payed Bill too much respect to be honest and almost payed for it.

After Bill confirmed my technique and natural KO2 ability it really made me believe I was the greatest and I am close to proving this now. I went on to win Gloucester despite underperforming, before winning the most dificult tournaments round Simon's house where my superiority over Bill began to show. Playing Bill at my house and beating him very badly over a course of about 12 games where he only got 1 win has made me very confident as I'm not sure Alkis could have done this to Bill????? Time will tell and it's gonna be great!

My KO2 hiSTORY is more humble than some but perhaps more typical of most! What's your's ?

In a sentence: 90-94 discovered and loved KO2 but was a crap player; after a long break I found the KOA in 06, rediscovered KO2 big time and attended a few tourneys - but am still a crap player!

Yep, back in my amiga days I first discovered KO2. Right from the start I appreciated the high skill nature of the great game and back then it always drew me back for more! Until '92 I was studying at Plymouth Polytechnic and would play with my housemates - especially great fun when I should have been writing an essay or something! In the holidays I'd return to Brum where I'd play with my brother and then neighbour, Simon K. His jammy doughnut ways began and he'd beat me back then too!!! We even wrote the results out on an A4 piece of paper for a best of 40'ish Garry v Simon Championship!!! (I've still got the results somewhere!!!) Fond memories!!!!

Anyway, this chapter came too an end - not sure exactly why. Probably a combination of moving out, hooking up with my partner and having kids!!! (i.e got a life!!;))

Yet, deep inside the KO2 flame still burned and in 2006 I discovered KOA. At the time the UKC was only a month or so away so me and Si thought we'd take the plunge!! Attending the UKC and later the WC (my first two KOA tourneys!) was a revelation and my eyes were opened to the great game's possibilites (i.e trapping, passing and scoring goals ;)) I really like the KOA and consider many of my fellow KOA'ers as friends now! :) I'm also a major fan of Steve C's KO2CV - think its fantastic that he breathes yet more life out of the old dog - long may that continue! 8)

Learning that there were other KO2 nuts local to me, in 2007 I thought the only decent thing to do was to host my own local tournament and KOBRA I (Kick Off Birmingham Registered Association) emerged! Soon after that Kobraman was born. Garry to Kobraman is like Clarke Kent to Superman! Admittedly I've so far only experienced moments of my great alter-ego - this may well be a lifetime's work so for now I'll simply strive to be the best player I can be (whatever that means!!)....

...the story continues....
