My resignation from the KOA.

Hi there.

Just to let you all know that I have decided to resign from the KOA. I've been thinking about it for a while now. My attempts at hosting a KO event didn't seem to gain much interest, although admittedly alot of people genuinely couldn't make it, (and I understand I haven't been advertising it at all really), I just got a little disheartened from the start. Other factors include the absence of my Beard cousins, and my continued enjoyment of playing poker. I find it more financially awarding and it doesn't give me blisters!!!!!

Let's face it, hardly any of you know me anyway. I've appeared at a grand total of 2 major tournaments and my fear of flying has pretty much ruined me as well as my runty KO2 skills, or lack of.....!

Anyway, KO will always have a special place in my heart. Loved playing MJB when I was 11. He still kicked my ass then, but I fell in love with the game, pity I never got around to mastering it!

Nobody is allowed to resign, it's the law.

You are allowed to take time out however, so come back when the time is right!

Hope you have a re-think on this John, as it was great to see you again at Gra's tourney a few months back. Completely understand that its tricky organising a tourney right now with the UK Scene generally and the Beards in particular being so inactive. Things can change pretty quickly though so hope you havn't lost heart completely. Imo you're a valuable member of the KOA and the UK needs you!

Seriously though, even if you'r not too good at the game then just use that as a goal to do a little better next time. When I first started I was rubbish but I knew that if I attended enough tournaments I'd get better and eventually start winning a few games (got a bit of a belly going on though due to all the Pizza's at tournaments hehe). These initial losses made the wins a whole lot sweeter I can assure you.

Regarding tournament organising...I do fully sympathise with you. It is difficult to organise tournaments and after every one I host I always say to myself that it'll be the last one (due to struggling to get players), but more often than not I manage to get enough the next time

Hopefully by the time the UK Champs comes around you will have 'came around' with regards to your resignation. The beauty of a big UK Champs is that you play lots of people with varying skills. So you have a good chance with the lesser players and then learn off the top players.

Most of all though, as Sid first told me after I finished bottom of my first tournament...you do all of this because at the end of the day, it's a whole lot of fun.
