Hosting YOUR own local KO2 Tournament is EASY...

This thread is started with the newcomer in mind but could be useful for the the distant KOA'er too!

Like many of us I stumbled across the KOA but then found there wasn't any KO2 action near to me. So I took the plunge and now host my own local tournaments - KOBRA - so glad I did and it really is EASY:

Encourage some mates around to your place (MINIMUM of FOUR)
Always use a Commodore Amiga (not ST or PC)
Stick in the KO2 or KO2CV disks (not Final Whistle or add-ons)
You need to play Team A v Team B at International Skill Level or International Teams, time 2 x 5mins.

Following these simple guidelines will allow for your results to be entered into the comprehensive Stats Database as well as the KOA Rankings! To generate the fixtures including a realtime league table, the very easy to use Fixture Program by Bounty Bob is recommended.

There's still plenty of scope for variation as players are free to agree amongst themselves on the pitch type, wind levels, A=B or A>B, PBD or NOPBD, and one of my favourites 'turn off the auto-slides' - whatever your preferences are!

Re-awake that KO2 spark - you know you want to!

I was always under the assumption that it was other people who hosted tournaments, why did I think this? Maybe I believed they were one of the chosen through, the knights of the KOA which had powers beyond reason - or maybe because I couldnt be arsed to look into how to do it myself. hehe.

But as you say, its E.A.S.Y!

After trying KOOHL 1 and getting good vibes of people Im going to do them a lot more regulary from July onwards.

As you say, you only need 4 friends and failing that, drag some people off the street hehe.

For me, you cant beat a night of Kick Off for tension, laughter and excitement.

I am trying to remember what the UK KOA was like before Garry, Steve and Sid. Those were dark times. Basically if it wasn't organised by me, Beard or Camber, it didn't happen. And it was like this for about 3 years. I'm glad we're getting a rest!

Thanks Rob! I see your "rest" has lead you to organise World Cup tournaments etc You may have also noticed that the substance of my post above was taken from one of your posts in a world cup thread! Steve E also suggested highlighting the basics of local tourneys as part of the massmail idea. So it's all a joint effort really!

Good job Garry. Let me add a list of things that will guarrantee that the first tournament you organize will be the LAST:

State your preference for wind and random pitch
Lose the results after tournament is over
Emphasize that Sensible Soccer is a better game
Ask your wife/girlfriend to stay in the house to meet everyone
Ζinc is your material of choice for Amiga tables, and the joysticks don't stick
You offer to pay for everyone's beers

I've edited the top post as above to take into account the option of using International Teams. Does this cover it ? Alkis ? Robert ? Anyone else ?

Btw when playing international teams does this automatically mean international skill level or are they separate ?

The international teams are generally slightly weaker than the A/B teams of international skill level. Indeed, the English team (generally considered one of the best international teams) is identical to the A/B teams of 1st division skill level.
