USB Adaptor to Gameport; Use your Amiga Joytick for PC!

Postby Sid » Tue Apr 10, 2007 9:37 am

Right... found a couple of bits on the net.

Make your own!
Firstly, if you want to make your own adaptor (Stainy?), then see here:
http://www.students.tut.fi/~kosolah/joy ... rt-en.html

Buy a proper one!
Secondly, I can buy one from USA for £27, (pre-built!) with good reviews.
There are only 2 in stock, who wants the last one??
(Delivery takes upto 14 days)

Or I could buy it and flog on eBay for more money!?
(how much could I get?!) :P

The one's on eBay at moment are not for Amiga/Atari joysticks, they are female plugs rather than male ones...

With the increasing demise of the game port and parallel port, I believe the best solution for the future is a 9pin joystick port to USB.

I use a parallel-to-USB 15 Euros adapter. It won't work with Amiga joysticks, but it's fine for PC CMS (Greek) sticks.

I have just placed my order from America!

AND ... due to:
* exchange rate (1.9 something)
* cheaper shipping method available
* didn't need the optional usb cable

I have picked it up for £19.75 delivered !!! ($37.90 US)

RESULT!

If anybody wants the LAST one in stock, go here:

Couldn't you buy a USB to parallel port cable and on top of that the Amiga 4-player-adapter? Would that work with the PPJoy drivers?

Sid, this Stelladaptor is a truly wonderful device!!

I got mine today, and despite a brief panic that the USB socket was the wrong shape (luckily my printer cable fitted) I just played my first game of KO2 with a Zipstick (as nature intended it to be played) in 6 years. Much better than the keyboard, not least having the ability to kick the ball north-west again!

Weirdly, my first goal was a header from outside the 6-yard box (must be the Spanish goalkeeper).

The good news is now I can actually practice for the UKC (and maybe play online). The bad news is I may become addicted again.

Thank you!

I dunno, I've been playing online all night, my hands ache and I am going to lose my Saturday catching up with sleep. It's a good thing I don't have a proper job right now..!

No, avoid!

Get the stelladapter or an amiga 4 player adapter if you have a parallel port.
