When I arrived at the first world cup, I was secretly laughing at the joysticks everyone was using. I couldn't imagine losing to anyone, especially to those who were holding them in their hands. They all looked so unsuitable for Kick Off.
I now know that there's no perfect joystick, each person must use the one that feels more natural to his hands.

Thats quite true!! especially reversing

As for the joystick question, I don't think there's any correlation between good/bad players and specific joysticks, or at least not an obvious one.

I do know though that there's no way I could play with Cruisers/Speed Kings (how on earth can you play with this thing Gianni?)/Comp Pros/Zip sticks etc. Apart from my stick, I could easilly play with Tomahawk/Pacman/Starfighter sticks and - to a lesser extent - CMS sticks.

:) Really I don't know... Seems only Torchio bros are so mad to handle a thing like that...

Me and BjornP both use the Wico bathandle, very close related to red ball. Another friend of us always used the Wico red ball, I would not mind using that joystick.

Me and Jacob (Jacob also used wico bathandle in the past) discussed this issue with joysticks during the wcup. We came to the conclusion that the american Wico joysticks (included the early wico-boss joysticks) were very popular in Sweden (see, also Danne use it)

Yep, I think so too.

Most I knew used the Wico joysticks. (most of them the redball but the bathandle and that one with fingersuited stick were also very common.

The bathandle is allright but I get better grip with the ball.. :) I assume it is a matter of taste though.. :)

Strange that only the swedes seems to use Wicos......

Thanks for those who have responded so far :) . I've quickly cut and paste the rankings and added joystick details in the first post of this thread.

If you haven't added already, please take 10 seconds to make a one line post of yours or others' joystick preferences!

Danne - wasn't sure of your name in the rankings so haven't added yours yet. :)

I'll continue to update based on responses... don't know why, just feel like it!

No pictures of the Cruiser in the Wiki. Damn, I wanted to see what that looks like.

Thanks Steve. I found a really nasty looking one on ebay, so I didn't wanna show that picture here. Might have ended up atracting suspicious people.

Erm... Garry.... what this

so subtle?

Go ahead and write please that Spyros is using the ACS Microtechnica joystick, for which I have graviously provided a Wiki link.

Gianluca is using a custom joystick he calls "Fox Joy", as shown on the Wiki.
Gianni is using a Konix Speedking
Alkis is using a Tomahawk
Nikos is using a Pacman II
Panayotis is using a Pacman
