Room now booked - UK Championship May 14th, 2016

Postby Robert » Wed Dec 23, 2015 9:42 pm

Hello gents. As I announced in Dublin, I will be helping working with Andy to share the burden of organising UK Championships. So for this year, we will act as co-organisers, and the tournament will take place on May 14th, 2016.

This is all booked now and I can confirm the details as follows:

VENUE

- The HI EXPRESS HEMEL HEMPSTED
http://www.expresshemel.co.uk/
Nearest station APSLEY (across road)

Meeting Room 4

Start time 12pm.
Finish time 7pm.
We have the room booked for 10am-8pm. Those bringing equipment or wanting practice games, please arrive before 11am.

For refreshments, there is a pub/restaurant next door. I said NO to all-day teas, coffees and biscuits as they wanted a rather unreasonable £6.50 per head.

Cost of room is £250, to be divided between participants. Please bring cash and expect to pay £10-£15 depending on the final number that attend.

There will be an optional Hertfordshire pub meal afterwards.

All KOA members are welcome to this, and International attendees are (as always) invited. The venue has been chosen as airport friendly. The hotel rooms will cost you approx £69 per night and will allow for some London tourism on Sunday 15th. The station over the road has a fast train to London Euston that takes exactly 30 mins. Those coming by plane, go to any of the London airports, take a train into London, then get this fast train out to Apsley.

Rule set - all as per 2015 World Cup.

Provisional attendees:

1. Andy G
2. Robert S
3. Mark E
4. Ian K
5. Mark W
6. Wayne L
7. Mandhir S (if 7th May)
8. Mark B
9. Stephen D
10. Martin J
11. Dan C (if he is in the country at the time!)
12. Steve C
13. Mark V
14. Simon K
15. Steve E
16. Simon B
17. Chris D
18. Mick C
19. Gianni T
20. Chris D
21. John V
22. Alessandro V
23. Sandro T

Splendid - is Luton or Hemel better for you?

Either mate. I like the idea of Hemel, purely because I've not played KO2 there. Oh and as to dates at this stage any of those weekends in May is fine for me, not got anything booked in 2016 yet.

Great stuff Rob. I'm probable. Train times very similar and driving it's 228km or 243km for me so not bothered where.

I am interested, I think I am free that date - but would have preferred Nottingham.

I would prefer Luton due to location (about 1hr less driving) and would probably stay over!

Thanks for organising mate.

Ouchie! Let's see how we go and if we are north-biased in our attendance list I am open to moving. Have put near airports but we have airports up here including the fabulous East Midlands Airport!

Wow... The face of this site has changed.
Logo and colours. People still the same, I heard some of the Birmingham guys don't post anymore? I caught up with Bounty Bobby last month.

Thanks for the redirect her Mr Swift.
I think I'm in Amsterdam on this date for a work conference. If anything changes I'll let you know.

Whilst I'm here with this special guest appearance, I wish you all a very Merry Christmas, and hope you Kick Off the New Year in style!

Festive regards,
Sid

Sid!! How are you doing on the weekend before and after? 7th and 21st? At this early stage we still have flexibility.

In other news, Waynie has confirmed via Facebook.

FYI Sid, and not to hijack the thread, but if you go to Amsterdam a lot there's a Dutch tourney on April 2nd. (http://kickoff2amsterdam.com)
