11th KO2 WORLD CUP: Friday Nights Welcoming Dinner

Postby Jam King » Fri Sep 23, 2011 8:00 pm

After many hours and miles spent walking around our cities finest establishments Garry, Steve and myself have found the perfect location to hold the Birmingham 2011 KO World Cup Welcoming Dinner.

Situated in the prestigious Mailbox, Penny Blacks Wine & Ale House is a big bar with a traditional pub feel, set in a prime location, on the Gas Street canal basin. Penny Blacks offers you a warm and welcoming lively atmosphere. A wine bar, pub and restaurant, with a wide selection of drinks and food to choose from and a short walk from the National Indoor Arena and Symphony Hall.

The Tables are booked for 8.00 pm. The price of 3 courses will cost £21 and £18 if you would only like 2 courses. This does not include drinks. We have organised a set menu from which you can choose.

Starters
A. Potato and Leek Soup with warm bread
B. Wild Game Terrine with salad and croute

Mains
C. Chicken Supreme with parmesan crusted red potatoes and spinach & leek cream sauce
D. Pork Belly with bubble and squeak and apple jus
E. Butternut Squash Risotto with rocket and balsamic reduction

Dessert
F. Hazelnut and Chocolate Profiteroles with vanilla ice cream and dark chocolate sauce
G. Key Lime Pie with coconut coated ice cream and raspberry coulis

Closer to the date we will need to confirm with Penny Blacks the number of diners and also the meals chosen. To help us gather this information we have labelled each option with a letter. We kindly ask those of you who will attend this meal to post to this thread with the 2 or 3 letters of your chosen meals ASAP, thank you.

Will this involve a 30 minute walk each way, or will transport be easily available to/from the location on a Saturday night?

Sunday night is 1 min walk
Saturday is about 10 min walk
Friday 20 min walk, including little tour of nightlife avaiable.

There is a bus stop outside the hotel that goes straight into town and of course taxi's are readily available.
