London International 7th Mar 09, accommodation thread

Postby Robert » Mon Feb 09, 2009 2:13 pm

With just under a month to go, participants now need to think about their accommodation for the tournament.

My strong recommendation is that, unless you are travelling from the UK, it's advisable to stay in the hotel both on Friday 6th and Saturday 7th nights. We have an early start on Saturday and a late finish. I am also recommending this to anyone coming from further than Birmingham.

The hotel details are to be found here: http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/ex/925/en/hd/ltnap?crUrl=/h/d/ex/925/en/mapsearchresults&rpb=hotel&_requestid=484406

You can call a central reservation number: 0871 423 4896 (from outside UK this should be +44 871 423 4896)
If you have difficulties, call the hotel's reception: +44 1582 589100

The hotel manager told me that TWIN ROOMS (2 people/2 bed) are available for an advanced-booking rate of £48.95 per night on Friday and Saturdays. When booking, please ensure this is the rate you will be charged. If you get asked to pay a different rate, ask why and challenge this. If you have a problem, contact me in this thread and I will speak to the manager again.

I have started this accommdation thread to co-ordinate people's different accommodation bookings. This will provide visibility on who is there, and make it easier to share transport etc. It will also enable people to find sharers for twin rooms. Finally it allows me a check point of who has made serious plans and who needs to be prompted to get accommodation.

However, please read on:

1) ALL ROOM BOOKINGS MUST BE MADE, BY YOU, DIRECTLY WITH THE HOTEL AND SECURED WITH YOUR CREDIT CARD
2) I am not booking any rooms for anyone. This is not like the Rickmansworth World Cup. Contact the hotel yourself.
3) Just because you post your intentions/plans in here, nothing is booked; speak to the hotel, or nothing is reserved for you.
4) You may have noticed points 1-3 are the same. Are we clear now?

Please can anyone, including those who have made bookings already, give me the details and I will start to compile a list below.

THURSDAY 5th March

FRIDAY 6th March

SATURDAY 7th March

I'll update this at work tomorrow and then get to work on people that don't seem to have any accommodation plans.

Pretty sure we'll find someone to share with you Alex, now that Rodolfo has found better company!

I feel a little guilty, and above all, because after all there are many chances that I would have rather stayed with Alex in Luton. Plans A and B already failed, working on plan C :)

Perfect. It's settled then. Room is booked for Friday and Saturday night under my name. I'll make sure the hotel knows I'm sharing with him.
