Im not going to post my review just yet because words cannot currently describe how great this feels!!

Just to add, whether it's putting the pictures on my machine or not having to worry about the laptop breaking...these things wouldnt have been possible without BountyBob!

Jointly organising UKC's 08 was certainly trying at times, but I could not have been more thrilled with the way it all went.

As always, it is all of us, the KOA members, that make it what it is, and everyone contributed simply by being there. The venue was terrific (great find, Steve E), we had ample equipment (thanks everyone!), the fixture software was solid (cheers Mark!) and the atmosphere was for me, the KOA at its best - competitive, friendly and a heck of lot of fun! 8)

We had two players who weren't able to make it on the day, but we nevertheless had a 15-man turnout, something that didn't
seem possible only a few days ago (thanks so Steve E and Robert for your relentless recruitment efforts). I really appreciate everyone who made the effort to come! :) I'm particularly grateful to those players who were making their comebacks after their lull in KO2 activity. (James B, Nick H, Andy E and Andy H) - you guys made this UKC a go'er - don't make it so long next time ffs! :)

Talk about the icing on the cake, but the finale was just incredible. I cannot imagine a more dramtic climax to a major tournament....

Jon G completed his games top of the league but knowing he could be leapfrogged depending on the outcome of the remaining matches with Robert, Steve C and Steve E. Its impossible to describe the drama that unfolded in those final few games but this is the gist of it. Steve E had an absolutely outstanding tournament and, in retrospect, had he won his final game against James B, he would have won the UK Championship!! 8) Unfortunately he didn't but the way it panned out, Jon G was one point ahead with one final game to be played: Steve C v Robert S. IIRC Steve twice took the lead 1-0 and 2-1 and at those points, Steve C was set to be the UK Champion himself! 8) Robert had his own plans of course and by mid way through the second half he was 3-2 up with one hand on that trophy. Then with literally 14 seconds on the clock remaining, Steve C claimed an equiliser to end the match 3-3. This resulted in all three players being tied on points, with Jon G having the superior goal difference!!!! AN UNBELIVEABLE EPIC that I'll remember for some time to come !!!!!! The top-4 players deserve huge praise for putting in performances that produced an outstandingly entertaining finish!!!!!

Great Championship guys!
Very smoothly run and was great to be part of!
Dissapointed with all my defeats but enjoyed being part of the tournament again! Got my 1 win so i am happy! :D what a great result for me! Dropped too many ranking points but will win them back next tourney! :D
Great too see the old gang again!

Line of the day by me,
Robert walks in after draw with Steve Camber handing John Greenway League and i quote

The 'Game of three champions' was a final like no other. It was won by the person not playing!

Before the match the positions were:

1. Jon G 34pts
2. Steve C 33pts
3. Robert S 33pts

Therefore a win for either Steve or Robert meant the championship, and only in the event of a DRAW would Jon G prevail due to his better goal difference. KO2 is not a game of many draws but in our tug-of-love contest over the trophy, Steve and I cancelled each other out and we got the result no-one wanted...a fucking draw! I think we both felt bad for losing the thing ourself, and taking it away from the other! Bloody nightmare!

At different times during this tie, Steve, me and Jon were all chaYmpion....but it was Jon when the Final Whistle went. High drama and entertainment for everyone not actually playing.

Overall though I don't think I can complain. Jon G is the best player in the UK now and I went up to Birmingham without expectations.

It's been a good enough weekend with Forest being promoted, and Derby & Leicester being relegated. :gban: I can't let a thing like KO2 get me down....even if I was 14 seconds from winning it. :cryo:

Awesome!!!

Dunno how I ended up in the top 3, as I always considered myself mid-table material before the tournament. Still wearing my 2nd place medal ;)

Great atmosphere, great drama. Especially cool to see everyone old and new.

Many thanks to the organisers and of course the competitors for being a great bunch of guys making the trip highly worthwhile.

Me? Undefeated and with best defence?!? :eeko:

Steve, you are now officially a member of a 2-person ELITE group of people who managed to stay undefeated in a major tournament without claiming the actual title.

Cheers for a fine day guys. Looking forward to some achey joystick hands tomorrow, and enjoyed messing with the funky extra options - walls and 10x aftertouch much fun.

Finished off the day watching the snooker, so tomorrow I plan to avoid looking at anything green.

Andy EEEEEEEEEE
Hopefully won't vanish for another 5 years! Taking a comp pro back home to Brighton so available for south coast matches!

Congratulations Jon for winning the UK-chamionship!

Seems like a very special ending of this tournament. Jon Greenway the favorite made it at last, but what a drama, three players on identical point :?o: One game left and Jon needed a draw...and got it!

Robert and Steve C, I presume this is a draw any of you wont forget...

It should also be mentioned, I had expected Steve E to possible reach a top-3 position, but I had not expected that you would be so close being crowned the best ko2-player in England. Well done!
