Completely agree, Abbey Road is perfect. But, as a beatle hardcore fan, I also think that they were also as good in their first albums, somehow underrated. I believe that the true beatles essence is more in "I wanna hold your hand" than in "You never give me your money".
I am not a Beatles hardcore fan and I agree that Abbey Road is a fantastic album, one of the best ever. It's interesting how the "best album" polls normally point to either Revolver or White Album or Sgt Peppers as the best ever, but most people I personally know agree on Abbey Road.
I don't think there's a "best album ever" because you can't compare, say, rock with pop, but I have a small list of albums that influenced me more than any other, and I consider them to be as close as I can from "perfection":
- Time Honoured Ghosts (Barclay James Harvest)
- Fate of Nations (Robert Plant)
- Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots (The Flaming Lips)
I also think live albums should have their own ranking

I can't compare live with studio albums, generally.
